Who can instruct a barrister under the public access scheme?
Anyone
can instruct a barrister under the public access scheme. Note however
that the ‘cab rank’ rule does not apply to public access work and a
barrister is not therefore obliged to accept the instruction. barristersdirect.co.uk at 4 King’s Bench Walk accepts instructions from
company and commercial clients and from government and non-governmental
organisations. Instructions from individuals are only accepted in
relation to disciplinary and sports tribunals and Coroner’s Inquests.
