What we do continued...
Property Matters
Claims in relation to property include building disputes, boundary and neighbour disputes, leases, licences, etc. Barristers at 4 King’s Bench Walk can offer practical assistance in the form of advice or representation in such claims without the need to also instruct a solicitor.
Immigration
Specialist barristers practicising in Immigration can give advice on all aspects of entry, leave to remain and asylum applications. Representation for a fixed fee is available in proceedings before the Immigration Tribunal and Immigration Appeal Tribunal and judicial review hearings.
Contract Disputes
All businesses at some stage become involved in contract disputes. They usually involve a supplier or a customer. They are often time consuming. If they involve instructing a solicitor they can be very expensive. The public access scheme offers a chance to save money. Most businesses with a legal department or a good company secretary can do the leg work themselves – writing letters, filing documents at court, collecting evidence and so on. We offer through the public access scheme the opportunity to instruct a barrister trained in contract law and specialising in litigation to assist at key stages of the process. That includes giving advice as to the best way to bring the dispute to a successful conclusion, drafting documents for the court, attending settlement meetings and presenting the case in court if it goes that far.
Landlord and Tenant
An experienced barrister can guide you through the potential minefield of Landlord and Tenant law. At 4 King’s Bench Walk we offer specialist advice and representation in relation to both commercial and residential tenancies. You can obtain Counsel’s opinion on your rights under the lease, a claim for possession or damages and the statutory notices. Under the public access scheme you can directly instruct a barrister to represent you in court.
Coroner’s Inquests
4 King’s Bench Walk Chambers has a long history of acting in fatal accident and negligence cases. Part of that work inevitably involves appearing in Coroner’s Courts. Inquests can be emotionally charged and sensitive hearings. The opportunity of instructing experienced Counsel to appear for an interested party without the additional cost of retaining a solicitor is something our client’s welcome.
Mediation
Three things are key to a successful mediation. First you must have a realistic appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of your case. Second you must plan your strategy for the mediation, the starting point for which is your position statement. Third, if a compromise is reached you must be ready to draft a settlement document that covers all the terms of the agreement. Barristers at 4 King’s Bench Walk have many years of experience representing clients at mediations and are able to give guidance and advice in all stages of the process to help you maximise the chances of a successful outcome.
Family Law
4 King’s Bench Walk has a specialist team of family law barristers who act and advise in divorce, ancillary relief and children cases. Advice can be given in conference or in writing. Representation can be arranged on a fixed fee basis.
